Who would have thought a bill dreamed up by Jacob Rees Mogg would ever be poorly conceived or impossible to implement? I still have to pinch myself occasionally when I remember that he was ever near the levers of power.
Tend to agree with Neil above David but will say that I liked your piece on Kemi Badenoch and your assertion the Tories are in their death throes. Wish I could really believe the latter though...🤪🤪🤪
This was very clear and explanatory. How about writing another 'Apocalypse' piece on Andrew Bridgen, ending with his suing Matt Hancock? I note both MPs have been expelled from the Conservative Party....
Excellent piece David (and for what it is worth, worth the £7), but the most satisfying outcome is that, as John Crace put it "Shares in Kemi for next leader ... nose-dived". Such arrogance and rudeness would be a disaster in the leader of any party, even a party to which I wish harm.
Hi David. I want to subscribe but 7 pounds a month for a newsletter is ridiculous. Make it 1 pound and I suspect you'll get more than 7 times more subscribers Just a thought
I particularly liked Badenoch’s “if both sides are against me...” bit. That doesn’t put you at the sensible centre Kemi, they’re all just pointing out you’re rubbish at your job.
Utterly damning last two paragraphs. So much of time spent in the House of Commons wasted on performative legislation. The Speaker huffs and puffs but is so ineffective.
This is the perfect setting for a backbencher who can think on his/her feet to tear this government apart, but they all seem to be speaking by numbers machines
Isn't that the whole point of Brexit? I think what really worries 'certain people' isn't that a mass repeal will break things, it's that a mass repeat might not.
People might start getting the idea the world will still keep turning with vastly less state action, and we can't have that now, eh?
I’ve read it twice, but I still can’t find Mark François’s truthful intervention: “What are you playing at?” isn’t exactly fact-filled. And you’ve given Hilary Benn the Clinton spelling.

but happy and revived at the ‘death throes’ prospect.
It’s sad to think, how crushed we have all become, that we are most grateful regardless.
"Leaving a gaping regulatory void."

Off topic, but what was the point of including the picture of the woman with her tits out in this article?
Their drive is sticking one over. That’s always part of politics, but it’s usually the icing on the cake, not the whole cake…
