Tremendous - thanks for taking one for the team - looking forward to part 2... have these sort of gatherings happened forever but never hit the mainstream or are these horrors just better organised?
Young people in their early twenties won’t even understand what these conservatives are talking about. Being woke or an unbeliever or trans friendly is simply accepted, end of. These conservatives are simply irrelevant to how most young men live their lives.
I have no idea how you got through the day without several shouts of LIAR! These extremists are certifiably mad (also bad & dangerous). If there IS a God, let’s hope he intervenes at the next NatC gathering with a thunderbolt or two! Thanks for your marvellous writing.
You mention Sebastian Milbank. Worth noting that his father, David Milbank, is the founding figure, and principal thinker, of the “Radical Orthodoxy” movement, a form of extreme anti-modernist Anglicanism, first principle “The denial of a clean distinction between faith and reason, or reason and revelation, such that human knowledge is knowledge only insofar as it is illuminated by divine truth.” Theology above science. Scrap the Enlightenment. Milbank Jr. is an acolyte, and co-founder of the “Mere Orthodoxy” group of young theologians. He’s a PhD candidate at the same Cambridge divinity faculty of which James Orr is a professor. All self-consciously clever people. Easy to dismiss, but…
Thank you for your insight and commentary. So important we know what people are saying and feeling. What you have reported on has left me feeling very drained an sad, but the fact that you and others are writing commentaries that illustrate how a faction of Britain thinks gives me hope of a sane future. Thank you.
By God you're on top form in this one Mr. Aa. 'Pretty much like a Times leader conference in fact...' must have been a joy to write... Tx

Excellent David. You had me on the edge of my seat. So happy I live in Satan’s Kingdom.

If you are a conservative, do you need a conference to tell you how to be conservative? Or is it a seat selling ego massaging racket?
Hilarious. Sing it, baby!!!!

Thanks for sitting on such a hard chair for so long, shedding light on the NatCons, and for speaking truth to the antivaxers too
Hard seats, clearly God wants them to suffer!!

Poor you. "Blessed is he who layerh down his life (or rather, his week) for his friends"
